Privacy policy
Last updated October 21, 2026
FamilyGPSGuard, operated by familygpsguard, lets you share your location with people you invite to a private “circle”. This policy explains what we collect and why.
What we collect
- Account: email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
- Optional: a phone number, if you add one so circle members can call or WhatsApp you, and the digital avatar you pick. No photos are uploaded.
- Precise location (latitude, longitude, accuracy, speed), including in the background while location sharing is on.
- Battery level and charging state, sent with each location update.
- Circle data: circles you create or join, places you add, SOS alerts, check-ins, check-in requests, low-battery alerts and arrival/departure events.
How we use it
Only to provide the app’s features: showing your location to members of your circles, place and low-battery alerts, SOS alerts, check-ins, driving trips worked out from your location history, and 7-day location history. We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with third parties other than our infrastructure providers.
Who can see it
Only members of circles you belong to. You can pause sharing at any time in Settings; while paused, circle members cannot see your location.
Storage and retention
Data is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Location history is deleted automatically after 30 days. Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap servers, which receive your IP address and the map area being viewed.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your account, profile, phone number and location history immediately. You can also request deletion by emailing dadwalrishi07@gmail.com. See how to delete your account.
Children
FamilyGPSGuard is not directed at children under 13. A parent or guardian must create and manage accounts used by minors.
